Estavayer-le-Lac and its town walls

"One of the best ways to visit Estavayer-le-Lac is to take a tour of the ramparts that surround the old town. An hour-and-a-half walking in the shadow of the walls steeped in history will introduce you to this particularly well preserved medieval town. The walk follows the medieval walls (almost) constantly and offers some beautiful views of the old town: round towers, carriage entrances, narrow alleyways, fountains and the stone bridge. The route is well signposted – all you have to do is follow the brown signs marked “Circuit des remparts” (“Tour of the ramparts”). Along the way, there are signs explaining the historic buildings and sites."
